Carina has never been much of a reader, she only reads when it's part of an assignment or for research. Her struggles with reading include focusing on the text itself, re-reading the text until she gets the key details down, and understanding the hidden analogies in a text. Carina does read at home on occasions, mostly when she gets free time and reads articles found online and in magazines. Reading for her gets easier when she is reading a book that appeals to her and in a silent environment. She often likes books about non-fictional history and books that are tragic, she looks for books based off of ratings and how many pages there are because she does not read very often. Carina overall thinks reading is important only for use of time and for the relaxed escape of reality. she noticed reading can come naturally to people when growing up when the parents would read with their child or in school when the class counts out syllables and learns them. She realized that people read to fill their day, for the adventures to escape reality, or even to learn more about the world and to expand their vocabulary. Carina's thoughts of a good reader is that it doesn't take much for them to be a good reader, it takes, time, effort, and to take the pleasure in reading.
Carina's writing skills are very limited, she does not consider herself a writer because she still has much to learn and to practice on. Writing to her is a skill learned in school and self practiced at home or even with a teacher or parent. Carinas opinion on writing is that it gets the ideas out of their head and onto paper so the world can read the passion they had on their inner thoughts, writing can also show how creative it can be. She noticed that while writing a paper that you have to know how to spell and explain yourself correctly or its not going to interest a persons attention, to be a good writer one must also know how to use grammar and capture attention in a good way. Carina loves poetry, not so much writing poetry but to read or hear others poetry is one of carina's hobbies while in class. When Carina decides to write a paper or a story she usually does a lot of brainstorming and considers other topics given from others. Carina writes a little each day at home even if its a text, research paper, assignment, letter, or a short story. Carina opinion when she writes is that it can't just be any random thought and idea, she overall thinks her writing shows how much effort can be put in and how much she can work on in her writing.
